Nov 2015: Data in this report, from May 2015 onwards, are now based on the new pageview definition.

In the old situation spider/crawler traffic (from search engines) wasn't filtered (a known issue, we needed hadoop to make that possible).
Those requests made up almost 20% of total page 'views' on Wikipedia, and even much more on sister projects (details will follow)

Also, the new data stream does exclude housekeeping traffic (mainly used for fundraising banners), which in 2014 overwhelmed content related traffic on smaller projects (not on Wikipedia).

The top table row, with year-over-year changes, is temporarily disabled, until the new pageview definition will have been in effect for at least a year.

Thanks for your patience.

Wikipedias are ordered by hourly page views in recent days

Speakers: Number of speakers of a language is the estimated total of primary and secondary speakers, is in many cases a very rough estimation (based on the page on the English Wikipedia about that language)
Regions are parts of the world where the language is spoken in substantial amounts (compared to total number of speakers). Regions where a language gained presence only by a recent diaspora are generally not included.
Region codes: AF:Africa, AS:Asia, EU:Europe, NA:North America, OC:Oceania, SA:South America, W:World Wide, CL:Constructed Language
